Overview

The Associate Data Engineer will be in a highly technical role focused on building and supporting backend data solutions, including integrations, automation, and ETL pipelines. This position is ideal for individuals who are curious, eager to learn, and excited to grow within a modern data engineering environment. Working closely with experienced team members, the Associate Data Engineer will gain hands-on experience with enterprise-grade tools and develop a strong foundation in data infrastructure. As business needs evolve, there will be opportunities to expand into new tools, platforms, and responsibilities-supporting a long-term path toward mid- and senior-level engineering roles.



Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions): MUST LIVE IN IL OR PA

    Assist in building and maintaining backend data workflows, including integrations, automations, and ETL pipelines.
  • Assist in developing, configuring, and supporting data integrations and ETL processes that connect enterprise systems and enable reliable data movement across platforms
  • Support data movement processes by helping to configure and monitor Change Data Capture (CDC) Perform data support tasks including processing, cleaning, validating, and integrating datasets from multiple sources to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot issues, improve data quality, and ensure performance across data systems
  • Participate in documenting system configurations, data flows, and processes to contribute to team knowledge and operational readiness
  • Communicate clearly with IT team members, providing timely updates and accurate technical documentation
  • Engage in testing environments and sandboxes to explore and gain hands-on experience with enterprise tools and workflows
  • Assist in coordinating technical documentation and internal communications related to releases, changes, and data integrations
  • Grow from supporting ongoing work and enhancements to contributing to larger, more complex integration or automation projects
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Experience & Education:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Data Analytics Information Systems preferred, or a related IT field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or work experience will be considered
  • 0-2 years of experience in a data or technology-related role (coursework, internships, or project work are acceptable)
  • Foundational understanding of databases, SQL, data pipelines, or ETL processes
  • Exposure to working with APIs or data integrations across systems
  • Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language such as Python or C#
  • Interest in modern data tools and platforms such as Snowflake, Matillion, Power Automate, or Jitterbit
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving tools and processes
  • General understanding of cloud concepts (e.g., Azure) and collaborative development tools such as Azure DevOps

Desired:

  • Exposure to any of the following tools or platforms:
    • Matillion ETL
    • Jitterbit
    • Fivetran HVR (Change Data Capture)
    • Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git for managing code changes and collaborating with development teams
  • Familiarity with data formats such as JSON and XML
  • Exposure to or interest in learning a programming language such as Python or working within a .NET environment
  • Interest in automation, AI, or machine learning concepts
  • Desire to pursue technical certifications related to data engineering, cloud platforms, or automation
