POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to and functioning under the general supervision of the Manager, the MRI Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the daily operations, workflow and MRI staff for multiple locations. He/she provides administrative and supervisory support to the Manager and Director by assigning, scheduling, monitoring and evaluating the work of assigned staff. Directs and trains Radiography students. Functions as the MR Safety Officer, ensuring that all safety measures are in place to provide a safe environment for our staff and patients, and provides guidance to all regarding MRI Safety. Additionally, he/she prepares for and operates MRI scanner(s) and administers gadolinium following specific physician orders. Produces detailed computer generated scans of patients for diagnostic use. Assists patients onto scanner, verifies patient identification prior to scan, selects patient from work list, ensures exam is archived on the PACS and completed properly in the RIS. Maintains facilities in proper order. Must keep abreast of all new MRI exams.

EDUCATION:

Completion from an accredited Radiology Technology program and ARRT registered. Specialty registry in MRI thru the ARRT required. BS preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of three to five years experience as an MRI technologist and proficiency in performing all procedures pertinent to area of responsibility. Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience desired. Experience with advanced MRI exams/procedures such as cardiac MRI, breast MRI and MRI guided breast biopsy, brain perfusion, chest angiography and a hybrid OR environment highly desired.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

ARRT (MR) registered and current CPR certification thru the American Heart Association. Physical dexterity to operate sensitive equipment and ability to perform a variety of MRI exams on patients. Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology and vascular systems. Excellent interpersonal communication (oral, written, presentation) skills. Ability to perform tasks accurately with attention to details, changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function competently in stressful situations. Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system, and with patients, family members, co-workers, and multidisciplinary team members (i.e. , physicians, Patient Care Services staff members, etc.). Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively problem-solve. Proficiency in window based applications, Word and Excel desired.
