Responsibilities

Peraton is currently seeking to hire an experienced Azure Cloud DevOps Engineer to become part of Peraton's Department of State (DoS)Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission (DSCM) program.

Location: On-site role. Ability to work either at the Arlington, VA or Beltsville, MD location.

In this role, you will need to have:

    H ands-on experience in Azure.
  • Automation experience using Terraform.
  • Strong background in systems engineering and cloud networking.
  • Need to have a blend of experience in cloud infrastructure management, DevOps practices, and sys/network engineering, with Azure as the primary cloud service provider.

Experience in the following:

Azure Cloud Management:

  • Manage, optimize, and scale Azure cloud environments, ensuring efficient deployment, management, and high availability of cloud resources.
  • Implement and manage cloud networking within Azure, including virtual networks, subnets, VPNs, firewalls, and network security.
  • Apply security best practices, including RBAC, Azure Active Directory, and Least Privilege principles, to secure cloud resources.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation:

  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for automating the provisioning and management of cloud resources.
  • Write and maintain Bash and PowerShell scripts to automate repetitive tasks and system configurations.
  • Use Ansible for configuration management and automation across cloud resources.

Engineering & Systems Management:

  • Apply systems engineering principles to manage and support Linux/Windows systems in cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Azure infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous integration and delivery of cloud applications.

Containerization & Orchestration (Optional/Desired):

  • Basic understanding or experience with Docker or Kubernetes (K8s) for containerization and orchestration.
  • Experience with container services such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Container Apps, Azure Container Registry, Amazon EKS, or OpenShift is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, or a Masters and 3 years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Possess the following certification:
    • Security+
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cloud engineering, automation, systems engineering, and cloud networking.
  • Demonstrated Azure Cloud experience -
    • Hands-on experience managing and optimizing Azure cloud environments, including resource management, networking, and identity services.
    • Experience in configuring and managing cloud networking components such as virtual networks, subnets, VPNs, and firewalls in Azure.
    • Expertise in applying cloud security best practices, including RBAC and Azure Active Directory.
  • Infrastructure as Code & Automation experience -
    • Experience with Terraform for automating cloud resource provisioning and management.
    • Expertise in writing and maintaining Bash and PowerShell scripts for automation and configuration management.
    • Hands-on experience with Ansible for managing and automating cloud infrastructure.
  • Engineering & Systems Management experience:
    • Experience with Linux and Windows systems, including system architecture and performance optimization in cloud environments.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly in cloud infrastructure.
    • Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and deployment processes.
  • Proven ability to manage cloud infrastructure from both a DevOps and systems/network engineering perspective.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Active Secret security clearance.
    • Ability to obtain a final Top Secret security clearance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with JSON and YAML data formats.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in cloud environments.

  • Most Desired:

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
