Responsibilities

NASA's Sounding Rocket Operations Contract (NSROC) is a sub-orbital space flight program located at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility (WFF), a part of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). NSROC provides suborbital launch vehicles, payload development and field operations support to NASA's Science Mission Directorate. The program enables the collection of Earth, Heliophysics and Astrophysics science.

The NSROC Manufacturing Manager will lead and oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations, from planning and execution to ensuring quality, cost control, and compliance, while also managing and developing a team to achieve production targets and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities of the Position:

    The position will oversee three distinct areas of manufacturing and with each of the areas each having a supervisor that reports to them. The NSROC Manufacturing Manager should have a working knowledge of Union Shops and the management of Union employees.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing strategies aligned with business goals while meeting mission schedules. Set and monitor production targets and performance metrics.
  • Plan and direct manufacturing operations, including production scheduling, capacity planning, and resource allocation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Oversee daily manufacturing activities to ensure production targets are met.
  • Monitor workflow, assembly processes, and production metrics.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary resources, including raw materials, equipment, and trained personnel.
  • Address and resolve production issues and bottlenecks.
  • Implement and maintain quality control systems to ensure product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Conduct process audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical, management, and organizational risks.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, purchasing, and logistics, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Monitor and control manufacturing costs.
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices. Prepare and deliver executive-level reports and presentations to Peraton and customer senior leadership. Support responses to Peraton corporate data calls.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field with six years of experience, in lieu of degree 10 years of experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of COSTPOINT, LEAN Six Sigma, and manufacturing workflows as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Experience in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment. representatives at a higher level.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products.
  • Aerospace Manufacturing Management experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
