The Junior Buyer role is a part-time (25-30 per week) paid summer internship position that is available at our Solomon, KS facility from June 2 - August 8. This position will report directly to the Director of Surplus Buying.

This position is responsible for providing parts, equipment, and materials by developing sources of supply and monitoring supplier performance, obtaining required parts, equipment, and materials, verifying receipt of items. Goals would be to develop and secure sources of supply, through our different market segments, expanding our inventory based on commercial needs.



  • B2B selling(buying), developing relationships
  • Sourcing leads, utilizing buying tools value company needs
  • Creating and operating CRM tool (salesforce), developing opportunities and quotes
  • Working with other depts, environmental, logistics, commercial and operations
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: Essential for comparing suppliers, analyzing data, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Negotiation skills: Required for effectively negotiating prices and terms with suppliers.
  • Communication skills: Important for liaising with suppliers, internal teams, and management.
  • Organizational skills: To manage purchase orders, track inventory, and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Attention to detail: Crucial for ensuring accurate information and adherence to company policies.
  • Computer proficiency: Knowledge of relevant software (e.g., MS Excel) is a significant advantage.
