Job Summary

The Data Center Facilities Technician will oversee and be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of all equipment, physical structures, piping, and life safety, along with the efficient operation of all building systems including critical Data Center operations.

This role will also be responsible for tenant services; preventative, contracted and general maintenance; purchasing and inventory control of materials and technical proficiency. The Building Engineer will also be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of all equipment, physical structures, piping, and life safety.

Key Skills

• Position requires that the individual be a self-starter, problem solver and interact well with all levels of employees and with all levels of building occupants.

• Involves complex HVAC and building system troubleshooting and maintenance as well as general maintenance tasks.

• Provide technical support and leadership to the properties.

• Assist in administering the Operations Audit under the direction of Technical Services.

• Have advance knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical distribution, life safety and computerized energy management systems.

• Have advanced knowledge of the operation and repair of all types of heating and ventilation systems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Boiler License required or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire

• 5 years minimum working experience

• Data Center experience preferred

• Trade School or apprentice program completion

• CFC Certification required within 90 days of hire

• Ability to work at heights, work in changing temperatures, and lift move and/or carry heavy (up to 70 pounds) objects

• Ability to analyze the operation of the various systems, determine the cause of any problem/ malfunctions and corrective action

• Ability to immediately recognize system shortcomings and respond to operational and emergency situations

• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Computer proficiency in MS Office

• The standard hours for these two (2) positions are: Tuesday through Friday 6 am to 4 pm or Thursday through Sunday 10:00 pm to 8:00 am; must be willing to work various shifts due to vacation coverage.

• Required to join the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 70, AFL-CIO.
