Tyler Technologies is looking for an Instructional Designer Intern to join our team in the Lubbock, TX office! The Instructional Designer Intern will assist more experienced staff in creating engaging instructional video content for Tyler products and services. The incumbent will work towards greater independence as experience grows.

The Instructional Design Intern is responsible for learning to create engaging instructional video content that is available to internal staff as well as external clients.

Work with our innovative software solutions that help local government and school districts centralize data and connect their organizations. By working to develop and support our financial management solutions, you can help integrate our solutions with human resources, revenue management, tax billing, and asset management.

Responsibilities
  • Assists more experienced Instructional Designers with creating engaging instructional videos over processes in Tyler software.
  • Learns and utilizes adult learning theory (ALT) to produce content.
  • Learns and utilizes TechSmith content authoring tools (i.e., TechSmith Camtasia, Audiate, and SnagIt) to produce instructional videos that promote engagement and learning.
  • Works closely with the department manager, other Instructional Designers, and Curriculum Developers to plan and schedule projects and ensure consistent and accurate information is presented.
  • Produces content that conforms to established guidelines and Tyler/department best practices.
  • Proofreads and copyedits written content for proper use of grammar, punctuation, and styles in accordance with department guidelines.
  • Reviews and edits visual content for proper use of recording dimensions, timings, transitions, callouts, animations, and styles in accordance with department guidelines.
  • Tests content for accuracy, user engagement, and effectiveness.
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time-to-time.
Qualifications
  • Hours toward a BS/BA degree in instructional design, educational technology, or very closely related field. (Work experience may be considered in lieu of specific degree).
  • TechSmith Camtasia products experience preferred.
  • Microsoft product experience preferred.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) preferred.
  • Experience or education in information systems, business processes, and/or software development preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
The Instructional Design Intern must:
  • Demonstrate the ability to write content clearly and accurately with strong audience orientation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to multitask, produce quality work and work under a deadline.
  • Demonstrate the ability to research and write content as well as learn and use the department software.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with other people within the company.
  • Follow department standards and communicate effectively with the other members of the department.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and also actively participate in a team.
  • Demonstrate the flexibility to adapt to an ever-changing environment and learn new concepts and software systems quickly.
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow and make decisions based on established guidelines.
  • Complete tasks with direction from the Manager and/or other members of the department.
  • Demonstrate excellent partnering and communicating skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a strong customer service/team-oriented environment.
  • Document and communicate assigned work and progress to immediate project team and management.
  • Receive constructive feedback well and learn from feedback by applying feedback forward toward future projects.
  • Must have a positive, can-do attitude.
