PURPOSE
This role is responsible for the implementation, qualification, and continuous improvement of various test process and equipment. As a test engineer, you will lead efforts on optimizing test capability and perform hands on testing, failure analysis, and statistical analysis of test performance.
This engineer will look inside and outside of our current capability and practices and initiate potential projects based on new technology. Interacting with current and potential tooling vendors, the candidate will look for beneficial opportunities to integrate new hardware in an effort to improve quality and/or reduce the cost of tests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This candidate is expected to demonstrate aspects of engineering ownership/ingenuity of test, as well as debug, troubleshoot, and test methodology road-mapping + implementation to ensure test coverage of increasingly complicated products.
- Design and develop testing methodologies and systems
- Analyze test data and document findings
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in testing technologies
- Create test recipe and process, provide production support and monitor process health
- Provide daily sustaining support to the technicians on issue escalation
- Interface with design Engineering to implement design for testability and manufacturability
- Interface with internal groups to generate overall test methodology
- Manage the qualification of new processes, measurement and testing equipment
- Interface with vendor end users on training of equipment
- Develop, implement test and process procedures and protocols
- Capabilities in statistical analysis and analytical reporting
- Perform FMEA
- Perform with hand dis/assembly of delicate, precision mechanical components
- Capability to adapt to the company's changing needs and priorities and be self-motivated.
- Willingness to take responsibility and ownership to aggressively focus on problems individually or part of a larger team
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE,
AND SKILLS
REQUIRED
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- BS in Electrical Engineering or other relevant technical discipline required
- 1 to 2 years' experience test process and equipment
- Strong debug/troubleshooting skills of general electronics and interconnects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Proficiency in using standard bench testing equipment and software
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Knowledge of programming languages like Python, C, C++, Visual studio are preferred
- Innovative and creative thinking for new solution
- Some programming experience or knowledge on microcontroller automation
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on precision and quality
- Adaptability to learn and implement new testing technologies and methods
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The pay range for this role in Livermore, CA is between $75,400 and $99,015. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
