Position Summary:
The CDNI is housed at the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain at the University of Minnesota. Our work focuses on advancing the understanding of brain development in health and disease. We are an interdisciplinary team of researchers trying to:

  • Understand basic principles of brain functioning across development (i.e. figure out how
    the brain works)
  • Learn about how neuropsychiatric and other brain-based disorders develop and
    progress over time
  • Contribute to the prevention and treatment of brain-based disorders
  • Engage underrepresented communities in all aspects of academic medicine and
    research

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Cross Departmental Project Management (30%)

  • Lead and initiate collaboration between principal investigators, stakeholders (both internal and external), and staff across departments
  • Liaise between principal investigators, collaborators, and study coordinators to ensure smooth and successful clinical research operations
  • Lead written and verbal communication efforts across projects and departments in an effort to ensure group and individual understanding of clinical research project initiatives
  • Ensure that projects milestones are achieved within appropriate timelines in accordance with internal and external grant deadlines
  • Initiate meetings with potential collaborators to assess the feasibility and staffing logistics of potential new studies, projects, and collaborations

Clinical Research Coordinator Development and Technical Oversight (30%)

  • Train lab members on various pieces of study start-up, regulation, and enrollment
  • Safely and effectively train and oversee new lab members as MRI operators
  • Attend weekly check-ins with study staff to ensure that work is progressing forward in a timely manner and answer operational questions that may arise
  • Ensure that study staff are communicating effectively, respectfully and in accordance with the policies of the University of Minnesota
  • Monitor staff training regarding Good Clinical Practice, MRI safety, and HIPAA.
  • Deliver effective, timely, and respectful feedback to staff when training and protocols are not properly adhered to
  • Ensure study staff have access to all necessary materials (training materials, required study materials, personnel) for maximum success
  • Report staff concerns to supervisors and principal investigators when necessary

Documentation and Administrative Ownership (20%)

  • Oversee accuracy checks on study staff's work
  • Maintain neat, legible, and organized study records; ensure that study staff are maintaining records during study start-up, recruitment, and study close out
  • Generate and distribute standard operating procedures to laboratory staff to ensure compliance across various tasks
  • Respond to, review, and appropriately document unanticipated study events such as protocol deviations or other problems that may arise

Study Visit Oversight (15%)

  • Prepare for, attend, and oversee participant study visits across multiple protocols
  • Ensure that study staff are correctly preparing for, attending, and executing study visits in accordance with study protocol
  • Ensure that participant information is handled correctly in a discrete and confidential manner
  • Delegate and oversee participant communications, study visit scheduling, and visit confirmations
  • Effectively and efficiently communicate with participants and families to update them on study progress, study visits, and required materials as needed
  • Support study staff in the management of study visit logistics

Data Preparation and Analysis (5%)

  • Prepare and clean data for open release
  • Contribute to the production of research publications and presentation of research data
  • Assist with drafting abstracts, manuscripts, and grant proposals as needed
Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS with at least five years of previous research experience, or advanced degree plus at least three years of relevant experience, or a combination of related education and work experience to at least equal nine years
  • Sufficient computer knowledge with Google suite and Microsoft office
  • Ability to multi-task without losing attention to detail
  • 1 year of experience in clinical trial research, lab management, or direct study oversight

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with research participants
  • Interest in neuroscience, psychology, neuroimaging and/or human development
  • Ability to delegate work to and support research assistants
  • Open to learn MRI data acquisition techniques
  • Excellent documentation/writing skills
  • Adobe Acrobat experience
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and GCP guidelines
  • Effectiveness in organizing tasks and setting priorities, verbal and digital communication with others, interacting constructively with faculty and staff, and the ability to be adaptable, creative, and a quick learner
About the Department

The Center for Developmental Neuroimaging (CDNI) is seeking a Research Professional IV to coordinate clinical trials, protocol and regulatory documentation, and interface with funding agencies for multiple principal investigators. A successful applicant has prior experience managing clinical trials, including protocol development and management, is detail-oriented, works effectively with a team, and communicates clearly in a collaborative environment with a diverse range of research tasks and disciplines. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $70,000 - $80,000/year; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 100%
