Smith College: Massachusetts: Program in Jewish Studies Location Northampton, MA Open Date Apr 23, 2025 Description The Program in Jewish Studies at Smith College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies, with a focus on modern and contemporary Jewish literatures and cultures. This is a full-time, non-renewable position for a term of three years to begin July 1, 2025. Scholars with expertise in Yiddish, Hebrew, and Jewish American literatures are especially encouraged to apply. The course load is five courses per year. The successful candidate will have broad interdisciplinary interests and offer a range of courses that enhance students' understanding of contemporary Jewish experiences and identities, both globally and in the United States. We seek an innovative teacher with a passion for undergraduate teaching who will actively participate in our Jewish Studies program. Completion of a PhD degree is expected at the time of appointment. Located in Northampton, MA, Smith College is the largest women's college in the country and is dedicated to excellence in teaching and research across the liberal arts. A faculty of outstanding scholars interact with students in small classes, as advisors, and through student-faculty research projects. The College is a member of the Five College Consortium with Amherst, Hampshire and Mt. Holyoke Colleges, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
