Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire a highly motivated Business Development Specialist to join our award-winning Business Development team. The Business Development Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and supporting business development plans, projects, and initiatives across offices, practices, industries, and business development functions for multiple stakeholders.

Bringing exceptional organizational skills, judgment, and communication skills, the Business Development Specialist effectively drives projects from development to completion, demonstrating the flexibility and commitment needed to timely and effectively support the needs of multiple business development initiatives.

Working closely with all levels of staff and lawyers at the firm, you'll support the development, approval, planning, and execution of department projects, ensuring projects remain on time and within scope. Responsible for generating superior quality work product in multiple formats, the ideal candidate will possess an advanced ability to multi-task, and bring a blend of project leadership, business analysis, executive communication, and process management to the role.

Key functions and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Effectively prioritize and support multiple business and client development projects and tasks, exhibiting flexibility and commitment as priorities change.

  • Drive projects from development to completion.

  • Generate superior quality work product in multiple formats (e.g., PowerPoint presentation slides, Excel spreadsheets and pivot tables, Word documents).

  • Coordinate responses to ad hoc assignments from department leadership.

  • Manage, monitor, and track business development initiatives to ensure department goals and strategies are achieved.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to accomplish assignments and deliverables on an ongoing basis under very deadlines.

  • Create and maintain tracking and reporting tools as necessary (e.g., spreadsheets, databases, and reports).

Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, client development, consulting, strategy development or directly related relevant professional experience with at least 3 years of experience managing mid to large scale projects.

  • Law firm or professional services experience is preferred.

  • Demonstrated capacity to develop and implement strategic business plans.

  • Experience excelling in highly matrixed work environment with ability to work across multiple business units and functional teams.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all levels of staff, firm leadership, and partners.

  • Demonstrated relationship building skills; strong communication and presentation skills required.

  • Results oriented with the ability to support multiple stakeholders and effectively prioritize and balance competing demands.

  • Superior reasoning skills and sound business judgment to influence decision-making and effectively interface with executive management.

  • Innovative, highly motivated, and self-directed.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, familiarity using a CMS, and ability to adapt to new software programs.

  • Willingness to be flexible with schedule when time sensitive deliverables are requested.

For positions in Century City, CA and Los Angeles CA, the salary range for this job posting is: $75,400 to $120,550.

For positions in New York, NY and San Francisco, CA, the salary range for this job posting is: $78,500 to $125,600.

For positions in Washington, DC, the salary range for this job posting is: $72,200 to $115,500.

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and the firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, firm or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
