Role and Responsibilities:


RW Solutions is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and hardworking Dishwasher to join our kitchen team at Camp Harkness for the 2025 summer season. The dishwasher will help support the overall success of our food service team by ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for campers and staff.



  • Wash and Sanitize:



    • Thoroughly wash, rinse, and sanitize all dishes, utensils, pots, pans, trays, and kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashing equipment and manual methods, in full compliance with local health codes and safety standards.

    • Ensure items are properly dried and stored in designated areas.



  • Maintain a Clean and Safe Work Area:

    • Keep the dishwashing station clean and organized at all times.

    • Regularly clean and sanitize sinks, dish machines, counters, and drains.

    • Promptly remove food debris and prevent the buildup of grease or residue that could create safety hazards.



  • Kitchen and Facility Cleaning:

    • Perform routine cleaning duties throughout the kitchen and dining areas, including sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down surfaces, and maintaining trash and recycling stations.

    • Empty waste containers regularly and replace liners as needed.



  • Assist with Food Prep and Service:

    • Support cooks and kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling vegetables, organizing ingredients, or portioning supplies as directed.

    • Provide assistance during meal service and help restock serving lines when necessary.



  • Safety and Sanitation Compliance:

    • Adhere strictly to all food safety protocols, hygiene guidelines, and cleaning schedules.

    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves and aprons, and follow handwashing, sanitizing, and storage procedures to prevent cross-contamination.



  • Equipment Monitoring:

    • Help monitor and maintain dishwashing equipment.

    • Report malfunctions, leaks, or maintenance needs to kitchen supervisors immediately to ensure safe and uninterrupted operation.



  • Daily Cleaning Checklists:

    • Complete daily and weekly cleaning tasks as outlined in kitchen checklists.

    • Ensure all duties are logged accurately and completed in a timely manner to maintain compliance with health inspections and camp standards.



  • Support a Team Environment:

    • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations, especially during high-volume meal times.

    • Assist wherever needed and maintain a positive, respectful attitude that contributes to a supportive kitchen culture.



  • Maintain Safe and Organized Workspaces:

    • Keep floors dry and clear of obstacles, safely store cleaning supplies and sharp tools, and ensure all kitchen and dishwashing areas are hazard-free to promote a safe working environment for all staff.




Qualifications:



  • No previous dishwashing or food service experience required- we're happy to train the right person!

  • Familiarity with basic cleaning and sanitation practices.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions consistently.

  • Positive, flexible attitude and a genuine interest in contributing to the camp community.

  • A commitment to supporting a safe and welcoming environment for campers and staff.


Preferred Skills:



  • Previous experience in a kitchen, cafeteria, or food service setting.

  • Understanding of safe food handling practices or willingness to complete a food safety course.

  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to take initiative and contribute to a team environment.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to cleanliness and detail.


Physical & Environmental Demands:



  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, typically 6-8 hours per shift.

  • Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and carrying of objects up to 40 pounds.

  • Regular use of hands and arms for repetitive tasks such as washing, scrubbing, and handling dishes and kitchen equipment.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, hot, and humid kitchen environment, particularly during peak meal periods.

  • Exposure to hot surfaces, steam, and cleaning chemicals, with proper protective equipment provided.

  • Occasional outdoor exposure when transporting waste or supplies to disposal areas.

  • Work environment may include varying noise levels from kitchen equipment and activity in dining areas.

  • Reasonable accommodations can be made.
