The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the Director and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: Spring House, PA

Shift: 8am-5pm (Monday-Friday)

Salary Range: $100K - $103K yearly annual salary

What we're looking for

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering or equivalent required

  • Master's degree in science, engineering, management or equivalent preferred

Experience:

  • Pharmaceutical R&D lab environment required

  • Lab Operations and/or Lab Services environment

  • Minimum of 2 years of regulatory environment experience preferred

  • Strong communications skills

  • Strong management and technical skills

  • Knowledge of laboratory safety standards

  • Experience related to risk management, quality, and compliance

  • Knowledge of lean, six sigma, just-in time inventory management, and root cause analysis

  • Ability to lead and make decisions with authority

  • Must be able to lift 25lbs minimum

  • Basic computing skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent)

  • Skilled at prioritizing tasks, problem-solving, and meeting deadlines

How you will thrive and create an impact

Avantor's Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

In this role you will:

  • Implement Lab Services, driving standardized and consistent processes across assigned sites. Assure sustained operations and compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.

  • Be accountable for the deployment of Lab Services strategies and programs, ensuring business continuity plans are in place

  • Be responsible for site lab services performance, including oversight of operating budgets and performance management. Monitor actual vs. budget and ensure accurate processing of change controls.

  • Ensure data/information accuracy to support Lab Services metrics, programs, and performance. Maintain up-to-date and accurate inventory processes in partnership with the business and suppliers.

  • Assure that all lab services contractors (Avantor, Agilent, CBRE) receive appropriate training according to the scope of work and monitor training compliance.

  • Support the Lab Services team on innovation and process improvement projects. Collaborate with eCMMS team to support the ongoing maintenance of asset inventory and monitor the utilization of standardized tools.

  • Support business partners with asset redeployment needs and collaborate on the entitlement/needs assessment process for the assigned sites.

  • Act as backup for the Malvern Lab Services Site Lead, on an as needed basis.

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships between Lab Services, business partners, and outsourced vendors at the assigned sites. Champion an effective one-team mindset among contracted partners.

  • Attend and/or chair program governance forums such as SMT and weekly operations meetings. Partner with EHS to ensure services align with safety policies and procedures.

  • Serve as the point of escalation for lab services standards, programs, and processes within sites. Responsible for supplier issue resolution at the site level.

  • Lead strategic projects and oversee multi-million $ Purchase Orders. Manage the project budget and establish contracts and site services agreements with outsourced service providers.

  • Maintain regional data integrity and support lower dollar value projects. Compile, analyze, and share customer data for business purposes. Perform various administrative duties as assigned.

  • Manage customer expectations, drive best demonstrated practices, and support harmonization and standardization processes. Make recommendations or alert leadership of impending business concerns.

  • Assist with day-to-day operations and interface with various internal and external customers to support the scope of work.
