Position Purpose |
The Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College is seeking a
PCB Designer to work part time in the
Online Master of Engineering (MEng) in Computer Engineering program to assist in the development of hardware. This person will work closely with the Dartmouth Engineering faculty and team to develop a custom evaluation board for use by students in the Capstone: Smart Sensors course. The custom evaluation board will be designed as a printed circuit board (
PCB) that includes sensors, a microcontroller, battery power, and power management. In addition to developing the
PCB, this position will contribute to the creation of course content related to the hardware.
This position is expected to be 10-15 flexible hours per week.

Required Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- Demonstrated experience with analog and digital circuits at the printed circuit board (PCB) level.
- Demonstrated experience with developing mixed signal PCB solutions for sensor applications, from generating schematics to layout, spin-out, and test & debug.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Master's or doctoral degree in engineering or related field.
- Familiarity with signal integrity and design for assembly/design for manufacture.

PCB layout in Altium, Eagle, or similar; delivery of bill of materials and gerber files to fabrication house for
PCB manufacturing/population; board bring up and verification.
Content Development (15%): Creation of instructions and/or assignments related to the hardware for use in the course.
Meetings (10%): Contribute to weekly zoom meetings with the development team where progress of hardware development and course preparation are discussed.
