The mission of the North Carolina Health Careers Access Program (NC-
HCAP) at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is to increase the number of individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who are educated, trained, and employed in the health professions. One of NC-HCAP's signature college programs is the Science Enrichment Preparation (S.E.P.) Program.
The S.E.P. Program is an 8-week honors level Academic Enrichment Program for rising sophomores and rising juniors (30) interested in Medicine and Dentistry. Over the course of the eight-week program, S.E.P. Scholars take coursework in Physics, Organic Chemistry, Human Physiology and Quantitative Skills/Biostatistics. In addition to science curriculum, the Scholars are assigned a summer reading book. The S.E.P. Program Summer Reading Instructor will provide the leadership and implementation for the course. The selected candidate will be responsible for reading the book and curriculum design. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, facilitating chapter discussions, creating quizzes, grading, assigning group presentations, homework, etc.).

Course Schedule: The course will be taught on Tuesdays during this timeframe. Special Event: On June 26, 2025, we will be hosting the authors of the book. The instructor will be responsible for co-facilitating the event from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. In-Class Discussion: On the following morning (June 27, 2025), an in-class discussion will take place, and the instructor should be prepared to work from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm that day.

- Must be a licensed/credentialed teacher in the State of North Carolina OR have relevant teaching and/or workshop experience
