Belden is seeking an experienced Utility/Municipality National Sales Manager to drive sales growth of our broadband, cable, and fiber products in North America to electrical utilities, electrical cooperatives, municipalities and Department of Transportation. Responsible for overseeing sales to include developing new business and supporting existing customer relationships.

You will make an impact in the following ways:



  • Develop new accounts in the utility market; maintain and expand those relationships as they evolve into customers. Responsible for developing utility market sales strategies and execution of those strategies.
  • Develop strategic sales, go to market, and marketing plans determining customer needs, new business opportunities, and competitor impact consistent with the goals of the Company.
  • Meet with customers on a regular basis to identify opportunities for additional revenue and areas that can be improved with a strong focus on Utility activities.
  • Coordinates with Corporate Sales, Product Management, Distributors, Customer Service and Engineering, as necessary, to provide product needs assessments at customer sites.
  • Prepare periodic sales reports identifying sales opportunities with existing product, new product opportunities, and/or competitive information.
  • Review and analyze sales statistics to assist in formulating and updating sales forecasts.
  • Participate in the preparation of marketing materials by providing material and competitive information to Marketing Services and Product Line Manager.
  • Attend industry trade shows.
  • Work with /manage manufacturer representatives as appropriate.



What you bring:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or Engineering preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum five plus years sales experience, preferable in the utility and telecommunication industry.
  • Ability to work independently to attain and exceed sales goals.
  • Results driven with a proven track record of exceeding goals.
  • Ability to prioritize work and adhere to deadlines.
  • Travel at least 50%, including overnight.
  • Excellent communication skills: oral, written and presentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, exceptional customer interactions.
