Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as deemed necessary.

  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or standards in order to inspect or test product throughout the manufacturing processes to determine if it is fit for conformance or customer requirements. This can include dimensional, attribute, performance, mechanical or chemical characteristics.
  • Records test data, applying statistical process control procedures where applicable.
  • Document reports to validate or identify details for deviations from existing standards, where and when required.
  • Support calibration of tools and gages as required.
  • Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
  • Operates various types of measurement equipment required to evaluate product conformance (i.e. various coordinate measuring machines, profilometer, hardness tester, optical comparators, various gages (calipers, micrometers, protractors, etc.)

  • Leads and/or supports gage R&R or related measurement system analysis activities as required.

  • Coordinate activities related to Material Review Board (MRB) or supports as directed.Leads containment activities and/or supports sorting activities as requested for external or internal sorts as directed by the quality department leadership.

  • Leads or supports audits as requested by quality department. This includes but not limited to various ISO audits as well as product audits at various stages of the manufacturing process.


Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school preferred but not required; five years experience in manufacturing or engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply mathematical concepts to the degree necessary.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to determine product status based on test & inspection results.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have or be willing to learn: Blueprint reading as applicable to manufacturing of metals, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Statistical Process Control (SPC) Measurement Techniques (Metrology) Computer Application basics (Windows, Spreadsheets, etc.) Coordinate Measuring Machine applications (CMM-Romer) Ability to work with people (Team Player)
