Senior Engineering Test Lab Technician

As a member of our Engineering Test Lab Team, the Senior Engineering Lab Tech, will perform a variety of tasks related to vibration, load deflection, shock, endurance, and production testing. This position requires a detailed oriented, self-motivated individual who can work independently and as a team player to ensure the timely testing of HIUS' products.

Position Responsibilities Include:


  • Set up, perform, evaluate, and document a variety of engineering and production tests on Hutchinson components
  • Perform the following types of tests - vibration, load deflection, shock, endurance, and production testing. Evaluate and validate test results
  • Evaluate and document test fixtures, test procedures, and test results
  • Provide leadership in working with other lab technicians, engineers, manufacturing personnel and customers to ensure expedient results
  • Provide leadership in the continuous improvement of methods, processes, documentation, safety, and housekeeping in the lab
  • Provide training to other lab techs on testing principles, practices, and individual Hutchinson components
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following company safety procedures. Contribute to a Safety-First Culture by identifying Risky Situations



Position Requirements Include:


  • High School or equivalent with additional specialized technical training preferred.
  • 6+ years of related mechanical, electrical, or testing experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with Instron Bluehill Universal or similar testing software
  • Familiarity with Apex Series Vibration or similar testing software
  • Working knowledge of environmental test labs equipment such as universal testing machines, electrodynamics shakers, and environmental chambers
  • Able to read and work from written instructions; interpret prints and Data Sheets; use technical math to interpret and analyze complicated drawings, specifications, charts, and tables.
  • Experience developing test procedures and evaluating test results
  • Able to use computer aided material testing systems. Able to document testing procedures and fixturing and assist other lab technicians
  • Able to communicate effectively with other employees and function as part of a team
  • Awareness of ISO 9000/TS16949/ AS 9000 requirements as required
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include Close vision and the ability to adjust to focus
  • US Citizenship required
