In the role of NEPA and Permitting Specialist, we'll count on you to

  • Coordinating collection of project-related data, which may include research, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, and land use.
  • Conducting environmental impact assessments.
  • Preparing, planning and analyzing technical studies, permit applications, NEPA documents, and similar reports/documents; Managing NEPA-related tasks in support of overall project management to support successful project completion. This may include managing scope, schedule and budgets; establishing NEPA schedule and sequencing tasks; coordinating workload and deadlines with technical staff; and implementing quality assurance/quality control procedures.
  • Working as part of a dynamic team which may include technical experts (marine biologists, acousticians, terrestrial biologists, etc.), and engineering design team.
  • Supporting permit application acquisition and/or modification;
  • Establishing permitting matrix and sequencing tasks, coordinating workload and deadlines with project managers and technical staff, and implementing quality assurance/quality control procedures.
  • Working with client, project managers, and subject matter experts to advise on schedule and strategy for permitting needs.
  • Interfacing with client and agency representatives to support overall project success.


Preferred Qualifications



  • 8 years of experience in environmental technical writing and permitting, and NEPA documentation.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field
  • 5 years technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documents
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Strong environmental writing and communication skills
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
