Pay Rate: Start; $18.00/hour

In 90 days; $18.25/hour

Position Summary:

As aLine Packer (Packaging)for Carl Buddig & Company you will be responsible for producing product by preparing and packaging cooked product for shipment with a safety - minded attitude that maintains and enhances a safety culture for the benefit of the Company and its employees.The OW Line Packer is responsible for De-clipping, Loading, Inspecting, Packing, Palletizing and Rework of the Ready to Eat Deli Sticks and Summer Sausage Products in the OW RTE area.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

De-clipper Responsibility:



  • Take the summer sausage from the meat racks, one metal meat stick at a time, and transfer to the loading table.
  • Once the loading table is full, the de-clippers will pick up the summer sausage and insert each end into de-clipper machine.
  • Will remove the center clips and string from the summer sausage utilizing the cutter from the de-clipper machine.
  • The de-clipper will place the completed product into the inspection table, to be transferred to a clean empty V-Mag when ready.
  • Once the de-clippers have filled the V-Mag with product, they will cover the V-Mag with plastic and wheel over to the appropriate line for further processing.


Loaders:



  • Will take the product from the hopper and check for clips and verify correct size, depending on the product type being ran. The Loaders will then load the product one by one into the pockets on the line. If the product size is too small, the product is rendered inedible. If the product size is too big, it will be placed for regrinding.


Inspectors:



  • Once the products are sealed and have reached the end of the conveyor belt the Inspectors on the line will perform the following inspection which includes the following:

    • No wrinkles (anywhere in the film or seal)
    • No open seals
    • No meat in the seal
    • No crooked labels
    • Verify proper label standards




Needs to show:



  • Product expiration date
  • Correct name on the label/product


If products do not meet the packaging requirements, then the product is placed in a yellow rework bins.

Packers:



  • After the inspection is complete, the Packers will count the appropriate amount of product per specification and place the product into the designated boxes.
  • The Packer arranges the product in the box according to product codes and specifications.
  • The Packers will then feed the box down the line to be automatically taped and apply the label.


Palletizer:



  • Once sealed, the Palletizer at the end of the line will ensure the label is secure on to the box and taped correctly, then the Palletizer will remove the boxes from the line and onto the pallet.


Rework:



  • The rework table employees will rework product, as necessary, following product type requirements and specifications.


Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Must be able to work in temperatures of 40 degrees or less and be able to lift up to 35 pounds for 30 minutes at a time.
  • Must be flexible and able to work as needed.
  • Must be willing to work within the two businesses (OW and CBC).
  • Must be able to work in a high-speed packaging environment and be able to stand for up to 8 - 10 hours per day.
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and squat as needed for housekeeping responsibilities and other miscellaneous duties.
  • Must be able to work 40 or more hours per week and work mandatory overtime if necessary, including weekends.
  • Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
