JOB TITLE

EV Drivability Development Engineer

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Core Responsibilities



  • Develop drivability and performance calibration for EV, FCEV, and EREV powertrain applications for North America.
  • Define drivability character and performance targets for HMG brand and individual powertrain segment.
  • Lead proving ground and on-road vehicle test and calibration activities, including extreme weather, off-road, and towing validation.
  • Support benchmarking investigations and monitor technology trends for North American light-duty EV, FCEV, and EREV powertrain applications.
  • Develop vehicle performance modeling/simulation tools and automated test data analysis tools.
  • Support creation and maintenance of test procedures, calibration guides, and development guides.
  • Collaborate with vehicle test teams and controls teams to enhance vehicle integration and controls software development.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop long-term strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Experience with JIRA/Confluence.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

Basic Qualifications:



  • 4-8 years' experience in automotive testing, calibration or controls development.
  • Experience with powertrain controller calibration/logic development (2+ years) is a plus.
  • BS in Aerospace/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
  • Strong understanding of EV, FCEV, and EREV Powertrain systems, battery technology, and vehicle dynamics.
  • Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink for data analysis and modeling; working knowledge of Python a plus.
  • Team work ethics: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

Preferred Qualifications



  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Aerospace/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field.
  • Experience with EV/FCEV/EREV development preferred.
  • Experience with powertrain controller calibration/logic development (2+ years) is a plus.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems/ instrumenting for measuring vehicle performance; experience with ETAS INCA/MDA, Vector CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy is a plus.
  • Understanding of Industry Standards (such as SAE) related to vehicle dynamics and testing.
  • Candidates applying for positions with HATCI must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

WHAT HYUNDAI CAN OFFER YOU

  • Must be willing to travel for up to 25% on trips up to 2 weeks in duration domestically and internationally.
  • Able to work in harsh climate conditions (cold temperature -40F, high temperature +120F, high elevation up to 12,000 ft)
