Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Assists in the design and analysis of hardware, components and systems for the development of new and/or support of current products, systems or processes.

Qualifications

REQUISITE SKILLS:

  • Experience with government facilities programs desirable but not necessary
  • Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with rocket propulsion desirable but not necessary - willing to learn.
  • The candidate shall have a good command of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint).
  • A working knowledge of the English language is required.
  • The candidate shall be able to operate in a team environment, and shall have good interpersonal, reporting and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Testing using test equipment to measure pressures and flow rates to ensure proper system function (vacuum pumps, gages, flow meters, etc).
  • Following Safety Regulations adhering to safety standards and regulations, including OSHA and other local codes.
  • Communicating with Clients/Customers explaining mechanical issues to customers, outlining repair solutions, and recommending preventative measures.
  • Reading Schematics and Piping & Instrumentation diagrams, interpreting technical diagrams to understand system layouts and mechanical configurations.
  • Write work authorizing documents to install, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, and high pressure piping and low pressure tubing systems, etc.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with mechanical systems, and write work authorizing documents to facilitate repairs or replacements of faulty components.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Assists in the development of mechanical designs for current and conceptualized hardware, components and systems.
  • Prepares plans and drawings using design software. Performs various analyses, including dimensional, thermal, and structural, qualification, integration etc. to assist in the identification of correct configuration, integrity and feasibility of design(s).
  • Assists in the creation of working prototype(s) for beta testing and customer demonstration. Prepares supporting documentation. Verifies that prototype(s) meets appropriate product specifications.
  • Assists in the review of vendor/contractor capability to bring product design from engineering prototype phase to production release.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field preferred.
  • Zero or more years of experience in mechanical engineering or product design and development.
  • Experience working with mechanical design principles and practices.
  • Experience working with drawing standards including tolerances and detailed drawings.
  • Experience working with production processes to include fabrication and machining processes.
