Description

SUMMARY

The Director of Business Development leads strategic business planning and executes business development and sales tactical plans that directly increase AMPP's growth and profitability. The primary goals of this position are to (1) influence asset owners and specifiers to include AMPP standards, certifications, and accreditation programs in owner requirements documents, regulations, job specifications, and like-minded requirements documents, (2) close bulk sales on related products, (3) ensure customer satisfaction and ongoing support, and (4) build support for the AMPP brand.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Develops and executes the business development plan to generate incremental revenue. This includes strategies for lead generation, monitoring, and conversion, including reports showing lead generation success and failure rates.

* Identifies, evaluates, and executes new business opportunities aligned with the company's overall strategy.

* Lead a cross-organizational team that identifies new markets, develops BD plans, and analyzes lead generation opportunities, among other business development goals.

* Foster cooperation and commitment to build shared visions with staff, members, customers and constituents to achieve strategic outcomes that translate to tangible outcomes for AMPP. Particularly as they relate to managing and prioritizes the strategy to get AMPP products specified.

* Oversee and pursue government contracts and grants for the delivery of education programs and other AMPP products. Enhance AMPP's relationships as partners with U.S. federal, state and local government agencies, as well as help promote other AMPP products within U.S. DoD, regulatory agencies and other federal government bodies.

* Develop in-depth knowledge of company offerings to identify profitable business opportunities. Works with internal stakeholders to understand the company's strengths and value proposition to develop sales strategies that result in sustainable and profitable growth.

* Promotes corporate brand and acts as a brand ambassador for the company. Ensures consistent customer satisfaction based on a deep understanding of customer needs.

* Collaborates with internal stakeholders to modify existing products and services to accommodate new customer bases and potential revenue streams.

* Researches customer needs and trends and uses the information to inform the business and product development strategies. Monitors industry activities and trends to help increase product offerings, revenue, and knowledge transfer to appropriate staff and member leaders. Researches emerging trends and recommending where to get our products specified to satisfy customers' needs.

* Developes seamless processes to support the business development value chain.

* From experiences out in the field, create enthusiasm for and understanding of the needs of the industry among staff, with a focus on identifying and securing AMPP products getting specified.

* Establish and maintain strong relationships with key constituents and asset owners in order to influence specification decision-making at the project design stage.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Heavy travel is expected for this role and passport is required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

* A Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, marketing, communication or related fields, preferred.

* A minimum of seven (7) years' related experience in a leadership role and in Sales or Business Development. With a demonstrated ability to gain new business and/or customers.

* Experience with international business development.

* Strong presentation skills to introduce AMPP and its products in a professional manner to engineers, purchasing agents, technical and non-technical staff within the asset owner community and federal, state and local government agencies.

* Proven ability to contribute in team environments with experience navigating and functioning within matrix hierarchies.

* Ability to articulate AMPP value proposition to industry, mission, programs, products and services to industry leaders and decision makers.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members, employees of the organization, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, etc. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to develop and interpret business graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Must possess a specific level of communication skill both verbal and written. Have demonstrated personnel management skills including, but not limited to, the ability to evaluate staff performance and provide direction, is highly desirable. Ability to work in a multi-task environment taking into account various external factors and to communicate efficiently and accurately to both managers/supervisors and subordinate staff.

Must be computer literate with knowledge and experience in word processing and spreadsheet softwares. Ability to learn and use association specific software.
