Job Description Set-up, adjust and operate static or dynamic balancing equipment to locate and correct out-of-balance conditions, where balancing methods are prescribed, and machine set-ups are documented. Straightening of rotor shafts and prox probing. Mount bearings, position centers and attach drives in manner prescribed. Mount and secure work, operate machine, take indicator readings at prescribed speeds. Add or remove weight to achieve component balance within specification. Must interpret specifications and perform basic mathematic calculations. Tests, solders, and balances complete rotor assembly. Daily/weekly TPM tasks must be performed with accuracy and consistency. Works with normal supervision. Eight thousand (8,000) hours experience required to acquire basic operating skills and knowledge of balancing techniques. Performs other duties as designated by the supervisor in the same salary grade or below. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Requires the use of decimals and fractions, simple drawings and specifications, direct reading, and adjustable gauges. Courses in mechanical drawing, and shop practices preferred. Vocational or high school graduate or equivalent training necessary.
