OVERVIEW

The QA Manager (QAM) position is a skilled quality assurance specialist who provides support for the Merrick NST projects. The QAM is a Certified Lead Auditor who performs independent verification activities such as monitoring, auditing, and surveillance, required by the QA Program. The QAM has responsibility for assuring the effective establishment and maintenance of NST's QA Program. See the "Duties and Responsibilities" section for additional details.

Salary wage range for this position is $138,700 to $179,500. Salary offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Potential for hybrid role following initial training period.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Quality Assurance Manager assures effective establishment and maintenance of the QA program utilized for project activities, including:

  • Developing schedules for performing internal audits, assessments, and surveillance
  • Performing scheduled internal audits, assessments or surveillance on projects
  • Maintaining the deficiency and corrective action tracking system for projects
  • Supporting project management with preparing corrective action plans/responses or verifying implementation of remedial actions resulting from audits and assessments

The Quality Assurance Manager will,

  • Aid with QA/QC matters on Work Scope and Project Plans
  • Propose technical solutions and alternatives on QA/QC matters
  • Communicate with Merrick's colleagues (Project Managers, Project Engineers, Technical Leads and Discipline Engineers) and the Client to assure that mutual expectations are well-defined and achieved
  • Stay current on project and related quality issues and supporting project team meetings with the client on short notice and meets requirements for attendance and punctuality

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The QA Manager will have the following combination of qualifications, skills and attributes:

  • Certified Lead Auditor (CLA) qualifications or ability for rapidly achieving CLA qualification
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of recent DOE project experience within the non-reactor nuclear industry
  • Skilled worker experience on developing and implementing quality assurance and control programs
  • Skilled worker knowledge of quality assurance regulatory, contractual, and technical documents (e.g. DOE O 414.1D, 10 CFR Part 830 Subpart A, and NQA-1-2008/9a and NQA-1-2019.)
  • Skilled worker experiences in reviewing procedures and other documents to verify quality requirements are adequately addressed and flowed down as necessary
  • Skilled worker knowledge of construction QA activities supporting procurement and engineering products, including Commercial-Grade Dedication (CGD) work packages and application of graded approach in an NQA-1 environment
  • Skilled worker knowledge about the application of engineering, procurement, and construction practices sufficient to comprehend specified QA requirements for these disciplines
  • Skilled worker experience participating in and supporting quality assessments, surveillance, and/or audits
  • Skilled worker experience and ability to ensure quality assurance requirements are met during the design, bid, build, and start-up of nuclear, non-nuclear, high-, moderate, and low-hazard facilities and equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, specifications, and schematics
  • Solid oral and written communication skills and demonstrated experience interacting and effectively communicating with all levels of project and client personnel
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and schedule tasks to ensure completion in accordance with requirements, deadlines, and budget
  • Current qualification as a Lead Auditor in accordance with the ASME NQA-1-2008 standard
  • Skilled knowledge of NQA-1 quality assurance programs, including Part II, Subpart 2.7, and DOE O 414.1D
  • Active DOE security clearance or the ability to obtain one
  • Openness to performing additional tasks proposed by Merrick's management team.
