Academic Success Coordinator - Success Center

Essential Functions:

The position's focus is to provide students with holistic support throughout their time at Curry and plays a crucial role in fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for students. A successful candidate is passionate about student development, has a strong commitment to academic excellence, and possesses the ability to build trusting relationships with students, faculty, and staff. They should be proactive, empathetic, and skilled in managing multiple tasks simultaneously. They should have an ability to bring complex situations to closure with strong professional judgment, a student-focused orientation, and expertise in documenting outcomes with clear written follow-up.

1. Student Support Services:
  • Advise and/or provide academic support for specialized populations assigned by your supervisor, such as upperclass students, student athletes, transfer students, continuing education students;
  • Develop and implement programming that fosters engagement, retention, and success for all students;
  • Collaborate with campus partners, such as Athletics, PAL, and SAIL, for academic programming and support;
  • Communicate directly with students to positively impact timely graduation in partnership with the Registrar's Office;
  • Monitor and respond to the Academic Success email account and Curry's centralized web-based Academic Alert system as a means of coordinating early interventions with students;
  • Meet with students on matters of academic integrity, grade appeal, and academic petitions;
  • Meet with students on academic notice, to develop, monitor, and evaluate students' educational plans in accordance with Satisfactory Academic Progress guidelines;
  • Respond to academic concerns about students within FERPA guidelines; meet with families, faculty, and students to resolve issues, and respond to concerns about college policies, procedures, and processes;
  • Escalate high need students to the Associate Director/Director, and/or CARES for further follow-up as needed.

2. Retention & Student Success Program Planning:
  • Under the Direction of the Associate Director of Advising & Academic Success, develop, execute, and evaluate activities to support at-risk students including workshops, print and web materials, and peer support;
  • Engage in continuous efforts to improve students' experience, to identify needs for additional resources or interventions, and to work with others to assess the effectiveness of student success efforts;
  • Engage in networking across the institution to ensure students connect with appropriate resources to support their success;
  • Assist with pre-registration of new students and work with colleagues in the Office of Advising & Academic Success to provide comprehensive student orientation programs that introduce new students to academic support resources and advising;
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Office of Advising & Academic Success and on the Academic Services Team through cross-training, information sharing, and planning.

Additional Functions:
  • Participate in and support student programming efforts;
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy;
  • Perform other duties as requested or directed by supervisor or their designee.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in advising, academic coaching, or a related area within higher education.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience developing and implementing student programs that promote engagement and success.
  • Ability to collaborate with various campus offices, faculty, and external partners to support student needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, student management systems, and digital tools for program coordination.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with transfer students, continuing education students, or student athletes.
  • Familiarity with best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion as they pertain to student support.

Salary Range:

$55,000 to $60,000 annually
