The PositionThe Student Success Coordinator will lead initiatives to enhance academic performance, personal growth, and college/career readiness for 10th-12th grade students in Explore@RC. This role involves developing and implementing student support programs, managing orientation and recruitment efforts, supporting curriculum development, providing governing board support, monitoring academic progress, and fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about education, adept at building relationships with multiple partners, and skilled in supporting K-12 students. Key Responsibilities:
Alongside the Executive Director, develop, implement, and manage targeted academic intervention programs for high school students. Regularly track student progress, identify challenges, and collaborate with faculty, high school teachers, and counselors to create individually personalized academic plans. Organize tutoring sessions, study groups, and supplemental instruction programs.
In collaboration with the Executive Director, provide one-on-one guidance and mentorship to support student academic and personal development. Assist students in setting and achieving academic, personal, and career-related goals. Facilitate workshops on study skills, time management, and stress reduction techniques.
Manage the planning and execution of new student orientation sessions to ensure a smooth transition into the Lab School environment. Coordinates events that support the growth of Explore@RC students into a collegial environment.
Design, implement, and evaluate student success initiatives tailored to the needs of 10th-12th graders. Use data and feedback to improve support programs continuously. Prepare reports on program outcomes and student performance trends.
Facilitate peer mentoring programs and extracurricular activities that build leadership and collaboration skills. Address behavioral and social challenges through targeted intervention and support.
Collaborate with the Executive Director to support the developing and ongoing refinement of the Lab School curriculum to meet the needs of Roanoke College and partnering school divisions. Provide insights based on student performance data and feedback to help shape effective, innovative instructional strategies and materials.
Assist the Executive Director in preparing reports, presentations, and documentation for the governing board. Serve as a liaison to provide relevant updates on student success initiatives, program developments, and curricular advancements to board members. Support the coordination of board meetings and ensure that decisions align with the school's strategic goals. Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
