Overview

Handle the daily service demands of our agents in support of individual and team goals. Provide exceptional service to agents by having an excellent understanding of Auto Dealer & Auto Service ISO coverage/products, be fluent in excel able to fluently navigate on-line underwriting system transactions, and be knowledgeable in Excel, Power Point and state specific laws/issues. Work independently within a letter of authority and accurately handle assignments of high complexity, hazard, exposure and premium in both garage liability, garage physical damage, commercial general liabiltiy and commercial property lines of business. This role requires ability to handle large number of transactions and have ecellent verbal and written communication skils. The ideal candidate for this position should excel in engaging with agents to drive marketing and production efforts, while also conducting profit and growth analysis. Requires ability to provide responsive support, service and guidance to wholesale general agents and internal staff.


Responsibilities

  • Manage, underwrite, and drive, as assigned, either new or renewal business growth in accordance with company goals and expanded Letter of Authority. Gather, analyze and evaluate complex risk exposure for submissions that fall outside agent authority. Document through appropriate risk documentation and work within stated authority to provide quotes that support growth and profitability goals. Identify and adopt proactive actions and provide recommendations to improve agent premium and/or profitability.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of coverage forms, loss trends/development and guidelines in the selection and pricing of individual risks. Evaluate more complex risk hazards and ensure adequate pricing of individual risks through proper classification, accuracy of information, and adherence to company underwriting standards/pricing philosophy. Determine appropriate solutions for agents and take necessary measures to obtain information needed to resolve inquires/transactions.
  • Demonstrate ability to guide Managing General Agents and other departments resulting in the continued development, growth and maintain a profitable book of business with little guidance. Work with renewal staff supporting company goals of premium and retention.
  • Provide guidance to Wholesale General Agents and other departments regarding various underwriting information. Through both written and verbal skills, effectively communicate underwriting decisions and appetite to agents. Reinforce the ease of doing business with MUSIC by independently demonstrating appropriate meeting schedules with assigned general agents. Proficient in internal and external company rating platform and use of internal reporting formats and capabilities being able to articulate the inference of such data.
  • With little assistance, demonstrate abilities to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Work collaboratively with the regional teams to provide a seamless experience for agency partners. Drive the development of individual and team goals and work diligently to achieve them. Support all team decisions.
  • Conduct continuous profit and growth analysis by territory and agency as assigned identifying trends and developments and implementing recommendations when necessary to improve outcomes. Monitor premium retention with the use of electronic reporting tools. Proficiency in managing three key levers within binding, pricing, retention and growth. Provide internal reports for management on a quarterly basis as it relates to competitive landscape and your agency assignments
  • Show a continuous improvement mindset as it relates to developing knowledge of industry information, products and competitors.
  • Effectively manage workflows to ensure submissions are resolved within SLA (Service level agreement) and open quotes are handled efficiently to bind new business accounts.
  • Conducts agency visits on a routine basis whether in person or virtual as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Demonstrate proficiency in usage of all supplied desktop tools, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft products and proprietary automated underwriting and email systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/peers.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change as the company moves forward in its strategic vision.
  • Must have valid state-issued driver's license in good standing.

Education and Experience

  • College degree preferred
  • Must have 7+ years of commercial underwriting experience
