PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Director of Career Planning & Resources, the Associate Director is responsible for overseeing the strategy and execution of employer engagement, designing and leading employer outreach strategies, managing on-campus recruitment to connect students to job, internship, and other professional development opportunities, developing regional career programs for students and alumnae, and building a volunteer pipeline of alumnae and family to enhance career programs and outcomes.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Employer Engagement

  • Develop and execute strategy for employer engagement to strengthen partnerships with employers, alumnae, and parents on behalf of Career Planning & Resources.
  • Lead strategic outreach for recruitment of volunteers for signature career programming (e.g. Career Exploration Trek program, Emerging Professionals Program, etc.) as well as cultivation of job, internship, and project referrals.
  • Create an employer database and prioritization system to track relationships and opportunities.
  • Organize and facilitate career development and recruitment events including information sessions, networking opportunities, career fairs, and workshops, and alumnae panels; identify and recruit facilitators to support skills-based workshops.
  • Establish and track target metrics to measure success of employer and volunteer engagement. Analyze data pertaining to career outcomes including first destination survey data, student career interests, and relevant career-related activities (e.g. event attendance, Handshake, Olive Grove, LinkedIn activity) to inform ongoing employer engagement.
  • Evaluate employer engagement and programming impact by creating periodic reports highlighting relevant data pertaining to on-campus recruitment, event attendance, new and returning employers, job and internship postings, conversion rates, and volunteer engagement.
  • Support marketing and promotional efforts for all employer-related activities.
  • Serve as thought partner to Olive Grove program manager to maintain updated job, internship, and project referrals from stakeholders.

External Partnerships and Volunteer Recruitment

  • Build volunteer pipeline of alumnae and parents to serve as industry experts, employer and internship leads, mentors, and company hosts, in partnership with Alumnae Engagement and Parent Engagement teams.
  • Participate in College events such as presidential regional events, Family Weekend, Reunion Weekend, and Commencement to recruit volunteers and establish external partnerships.
  • Liaise with industry-focused student groups including the Student Investment Fund, Scripps College Economics Society, The Scripps Code, etc.
  • Liaise with Alumnae Leadership Council and committees to facilitate connections between alums and students, organize events to benefit students and alums, and improve career opportunities and outcomes.
  • Partner with Director of Parent Engagement on Summer Welcome events and New Student Programs and Orientation (NSPO) to build culture of volunteerism and family involvement with CP&R.
  • Collaborate with department of philanthropy for strategic engagement of alum and parent volunteers for CP&R events and programs.
  • Collaborate with Director of Foundation, Corporate and Government Relations to support implementation of corporate engagement plan; Assist in identification of mission-fit organizations that may yield internship, employment, or funding opportunities.
  • Assess opportunities to engage in external partnerships with mission-aligned organizations.
  • Serve as point of contact for Forte Foundation membership and Women's Colleges & Universities Partners virtual consortium.
  • Track volunteer engagement and student engagement through CP&R programs in collaboration with the Engagement Team's broader engagement metric tracking system.

Program Development

  • Develop and execute suite of regional career programs for students and alumnae, such as Career Exploration Treks, networking events, etc.
  • Partner with Director of Alumnae Engagement on strategies and programs to support alum career programs, and the student-to-alum pipeline.
  • Advise students and alums related to job/internship search, resume/cover letter review, and interview preparation; track career outcomes and maintain supportive career coaching relationships with students who participate in Career Exploration Treks.
  • Conduct outreach activities with students, faculty, and employers as relevant; coordinate and attend special projects and programs including prospective students, alumnae, and families as relevant.
  • Stay informed about job market, industry, and employment trends (Bureau of Labor Statistics, Lightcast, etc.)
  • Active support for the College's Principles of Community and Principles of Diversity in the performance of job duties.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build working relationships with a diverse group of constituents.
  • Familiarity with databases (e.g. Handshake), websites (e.g. WordPress), and social media (e.g. Instagram) is a plus.
  • An understanding of small, private, liberal arts colleges, and hold a commitment to women's education.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in a related field, or any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the job.

At least four years of relevant experience in employer engagement, career services, or talent acquisition is preferred. Experience in career coaching, program management, workshop facilitation, research, computer technology, and assessment is preferred.

Master's degree in counseling, student development, higher education, or any combination of education, training, or experience preferred.

HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS:

This is a regular status, full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt position.

The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, including some evenings and weekends and regular travel on behalf of the College 2-4 times a year. Hours may vary based on the needs of the College or department.

Salary Range: $71,000-$75,000 annualized. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Will supervise student employees.
