Responsibilities
We are looking for a strategic and results-driven Plating Engineer to join our team at STRATTEC Security Corp. In this pivotal role, you will optimize processes, enhancing flow, and eliminating waste, thereby driving value delivery across the organization. Your expertise will be crucial in aligning operational strategies with business objectives to foster a culture of continuous improvement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead as an expert in problem-solving, including detection, diagnosis, providing solutions, and developing systems to sustain improvements for major process and equipment issues. Understand water treatment system discharge limits & modify equipment/processes to improve them.
- Create business systems and implement controls to ensure compliance with operating specifications.
- Assist with developing standardized systems and structures to ensure world-class performance, including detailed process instructions, operating specifications, appropriate process checks, error proofing, automated process control systems, and preventive maintenance plans.
- Design, specify, develop costing, recommend selection, and lead implementation of world-class coating and wastewater treatment equipment. This includes developing business systems and procedures, process specifications, error proofing controls, recommended staffing, and preventive maintenance plans ensuring sustained EHS-compliant and cost-effective operation.
- Provide training material/guidance for coating & wastewater treatment and their associated secondary processes.
- Review, improve, and standardize preventative maintenance programs for coatings equipment and tooling by leveraging best practices, which should be based on the cycles operated.
- Ensure consistency in how coating and wastewater processes are engineered, documented, and sustained.
- Drive process & equipment delivering capable and error-free coated products.
- Provide expert product design recommendations and feedback for new and existing components suitable for manufacturing consistently at world-class performance levels.
- Lead continuous improvement activities and lean tool deployment for KPI improvement of scrap, labor, TPM, EHS performance, and variation reduction.
- Leverage lean concepts and industry benchmarks such as visual factory, standard work, error proofing, single piece flow, six sigma, kaizen, TPM, and Industry 4.0 to simplify the organization and eliminate decisions in the design, manufacture, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting processes. Trains in these processes.
- Ensure safety and quality standards compliance while allocating resources effectively to maximize productivity.
- Manage budgets and cost reductions in manufacturing.
- Process owner of SPCC Plan.
- Process owner of all local, state, and federal compliance and permit requirements related to the Plating Department.
Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in process improvement, operations management, or value stream analysis.
- 3-5 years of wastewater or plating experience.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
- Familiarity with Lean principles and methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Familiarity with project management software such as Trello, Asana, or similar tools.
- Experience with data analysis tools like Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced setting.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing or technology-driven environment.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma or other process improvement certifications.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
- Experience with data visualization tools to present insights effectively.
