Job Description:

Responsibilities

Health Research, Inc. is seeking an Hourly Project Assistant II. The Hourly Project Assistant II will work approximately 30 hours per week from May 2025 through August 2025. Thereafter, the incumbent will work 20 hours per week. The Hourly Project Assistant II will support the following projects and activities:

  • Assist with providing education on healthy fish consumption and attend outreach events

  • Survey anglers on locally caught fish consumption

  • Help with the fish advisory tributary mapping program

  • Aid staff in Hudson River sign inspections, and track responses to and from municipalities regarding sign posting

  • Support staff in fish advisory order distribution and partner needs

  • Conduct data entry and literature review efforts in support of ongoing educational research projects.

  • Assist with drafting webpage content on fish advisories and support CEH web team.

Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate or Graduate student currently enrolled in a Public Health, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Communications, or related degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience engaging with the public at community events or outreach programs

  • Experience engaging with anglers or interest in public health issues related to the consumption of sport-caught fish.

  • Strong written and visual communication skills including experience developing both written content and supporting graphics.

  • Experience providing presentations.

  • Experience conducting literature reviews in support of research projects.

  • Experience with website design and HTML coding

  • Experience with graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suites InDesign, Photoshop,

  • Experience with MS Office Suite.

Conditions of Employment

Hourly, grant funded position expected to last through 9/5/2025. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel 25-50% of the time will be required. A valid driver's license in good standing will be required for areas not served by public transportation.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will be available.

This position may require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays.
