JOB DETAILS LOCATION: Remote JOB STATUS: FT TRAVEL: Up to 25% JOB SUMMARY This role is central to advancing Space Segment innovation efforts and achieving mission objectives in collaboration with DoD and Industry Space Organizations. This is a high-impact leadership position for an experienced Mission Architect, Program Manager, and Systems Engineer who thrives at the intersection of innovation, technical execution, and program strategy. RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop Winning Tailored Solutions: Work closely with the EVP (Space Segment), Space Segment Business Unit Leads, and Growth Leadership to identify and apply emerging technologies and capabilities that align with market demands and organizational goals. Support the development of compliant and compelling technical proposals. Build Collaborative Relationships: Foster relationships with subject matter experts, technical teams, and key stakeholders to support solution development. Quickly establish rapport and credibility with team members to ensure effective collaboration Support Strategic Solutioning: Work closely with the EVP (Space Segment, Space Segment Business Unit Leads, and Growth Leadership to identify and apply emerging technologies and capabilities that align with market demands and organizational goals. Contribute to efforts that ensure Astrion remains competitive in the federal contracting space. Support standup, early execution and transitions of winning solutions: Apply program management, systems engineering skills; identify key resources (people and processes). Capture Support and Capability Briefings: Play a key role in technical work and capability briefings to support business development efforts. Collaborate with capture teams to align technical solutions with customer priorities. Market Awareness: Stay informed on current trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities within the government contracting and defense sectors. Leverage this knowledge to contribute to solution strategies. Organizational Skills: Effectively manage multiple tasks, including solution development efforts, capability documentation, and market research, while ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Active and transferrable DoD security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required), Top Secret SCI highly desired.
Proven leadership in DoD and Civil space systems with at least 10 years of mission architecting experience Program Management and System engineering experience on a DoD/Civil programs Knowledge of space mission engineering principles and concepts Knowledge of space-related technology and trends Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, including propulsion, attitude control, navigation, communication, power, and structure. Ability to develop spacecraft system architectures and designs Knowledge of system integration and test processes and techniques. Ability to Develop spacecraft and mission requirements Ability to develop and manage project plans and timelines. Ability to Support business proposal development Ability to Put together multi-vendor teams Ability to work in a team environment Analytical Thinking: Proven ability to analyze customer needs, identify gaps and risks, and develop tailored solutions that align with organizational strengths and goals. Communication Skills: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and concisely. Ability to Mentor other engineers, program/project managers, business development employees
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- DAWIA certifications in legacy or current functional areas (e.g., Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering (SPRDE), Engineering and Technical Management, Program Management, Test and Evaluations, etc.)
- Space Mission Area Experience (e.g., Space Based Communications, Positioning Navigation and Timing (PNT), Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Missile Warning, Space Control, Space Domain Awareness, On orbit Servicing, Earth Science, Planetary Sciences, Luna Sciences, Space Tourism)
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping, cloud environments, artificial intelligence, and resilient space architectures.
