Job Description

The University of Missouri - St. Louis (UMSL) seeks an experienced recruitment leader to provide exceptional recruitment services to support UMSL in achieving its operational and strategic objectives. Working as both an HR leader and subject matter expert for UMSL, the Lead Recruitment Consultant will focus on operational excellence (in partnership with the UM System Recruitment Center of Expertise) while also looking to install and execute strategic hiring practices for key, difficult-to-fill positions that aid the university fulfilling its important missions.

Reporting to the Executive Director of HR (and Chief Human Resources Officer for UMSL) The Lead Recruitment Consultant will work to develop and lead a high-impact recruitment function that works to implement efficient and consistent hiring approaches across the university, as well as installing targeting strategic hiring practices that are informed by best talent acquisition practices in similarly complex organizations. In order to be successful in both focus areas, the Lead Recruitment Consultant will work in very close partnership with senior administration, faculty, as well as colleagues within HR and other service departments throughout the university.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Lead Recruitment Consultant will be asked to:

  • Lead UMSL recruiting colleagues to deliver exceptional customer service, an outstanding candidate experience, and improve organizational efficiencies to support the talent acquisition, pre-boarding and onboarding functions.
  • Provide high level expertise and advice to internal constituents on routine and complex recruitment issues to remain compliant with regulations and policies
  • Provide on-campus support for key/high-level search strategies and lead hiring activities for a small portfolio of key academic, leadership, and staff positions
  • Partner closely with the UM Recruitment Center of Expertise and another UM colleagues in delivering outstanding results upon a consistent hiring practice platform across the enterprise
  • Supervise the staff responsible for on-site recruiting and onboarding functions such as I-9s, new hire welcome kits, and more

Shift

8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday with occasional evenings and weekends; On-site role

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven success delivering innovating sourcing and recruiting strategies for national leadership searches, preferably for complex organizations
  • Experience in areas like employee development, engagement, retention, and talent management such as recruitment, training, performance management, compensation, and understanding HR-related regulations and compliance
  • Experience in multi-project management, particularly in higher education, government or similarly complex organizations
  • Previous experience negotiating competitive compensation and benefits packages
  • Persuasive and effective communication skills
Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually
Grade: GGS12
