Project Title Garden Grove Site Sustainability Program Improvement & Implementation Project Overview Join our team as an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Sustainability Engineer Intern, where you will play a crucial role in developing, deploying and improving our sustainability initiatives. This project aims to enhance recycling and sustainability efforts including, but not limited Orange County Waste & Recycling Programs by leveraging innovative solutions to reduce waste and promote environmental health. Main Project Deliverables Assessment Report: Conduct a comprehensive assessment of current recycling practices and identify areas for improvement. Implementation Plan: Develop and implement strategies to enhance recycling and sustainability efforts, including organic waste recycling, composting, and hazardous waste management. Training Programs: Design and deliver training sessions for staff and community members on best practices in recycling and sustainability. Compliance Documentation: Ensure all activities comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Progress Reports: Regularly update stakeholders on project progress, challenges, and successes. Learning Outcomes Regulatory Knowledge: Gain a deep understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements. Project Management: Develop skills in planning, executing, and managing sustainability projects. Technical Expertise: Learn about advanced recycling technologies and sustainable practices. Communication Skills: Enhance your ability to communicate complex information effectively to diverse audiences. Problem Solving: Improve your ability to identify issues and develop innovative solutions. Job Qualifications Currently in final year of school or within 1 year of graduating with Bachelor's degree or greater in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Currently holds3.0 GPA or higher. Available to work 30+ hours per week. Foundational understanding of OSHA, EPA regulations, and sustainability principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team US Person per ITAR regulations and able to comply with export compliance requirements. Preferred Qualifications Previous internship or work experience in environmental health, safety, or sustainability. Projects: Experience with recycling programs, waste management, or sustainability initiatives. Certifications: Certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour, HAZWOPER, or similar are a plus.
