Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital, as well as a clinic system with primary care clinics located in Minneapolis and across Hennepin County. SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking a Respiratory Care Manager to lead our Respiratory Care Department team. The current vacancy is full-time with benefits, 80 hours per pay period, day shift.

Purpose of this position: Administers and directs all activities and functions of the Respiratory Care Department and the Pulmonary Function Laboratory.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Oversees daily operations of respiratory care services including planning for personnel and equipment/supply needs
  • Develops, implements and maintains systems, processes and standard work that results in efficient, effective and timely delivery of respiratory care services to patients
  • Maintains current knowledge of community and national respiratory care practices/research. Demonstrates administrative skill and knowledge necessary to advance practice and achieve high functioning respiratory care department
  • Supports and nurtures patient and family centered care with strategies and employee expectations that align with the organizational goal to enhance the patient and family experience
  • Supports lifelong learning for staff by coaching and encouraging educational and development opportunities
  • Maintains active recruitment and hiring based on updated position control and hiring plan
  • Creates a culture of positive and effective communication and collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with patients, providers and other members of the healthcare team
  • Maintains overall accountability for orientation and competency requirements for the department
  • Develops department based strategies that contribute to attainment of organizational priorities. Monitors progress and assures attainment of outcomes
  • Establishes and maintains standards of practice for respiratory care staff that are evidence based and aligned with professional organization standards and licensure requirements
  • Monitors and observes staff to assure they understand and comply with organizational standards, competency requirements, policies, procedures and regulations
  • Evaluates quality, safety and effectiveness of respiratory practices and patient care outcomes in a systematic manner
  • Establishes data collection methods and systems that support timely assessment of outcomes and quality of care and communicates results to staff, providers, and leadership
  • Develops department budget and volume statistics. Achieves budget targets through effective use of resources and adherence to productivity standards
  • Engages staff in sustaining a culture of creativity and involvement of staff that is inclusive and provides opportunities to develop and use new skills
  • Evaluates personnel performance based on adherence to professional practice standards and evidence of compliance to values and behaviors expected of HHS employees. Coaches and establishes performance improvement plans as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in health arts/sciences, business administration, management or related field of study


-AND-



  • Three years of increasingly responsible experience in respiratory care, including at least one year of supervisory experience
  • Effective May 4, 2016 Must possess a Bachelor's Degree or must be enrolled in a baccalaureate program and graduate by a date determined by the hiring manager


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Broad background in Respiratory Care
  • Recognized and registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • At least five years in respiratory care with supervisory responsibilities
  • Healthcare Administration degree or Nursing Leader

  • Ability to effectively manage company resources (i.e. budget and personnel)
  • Skilled in overseeing the efforts of high-level department individuals
  • Superb ability to motivate employees and inspire positive change within the department
  • Innovative thinker; Ability to contribute new ideas that support organizational goals
  • Skilled in managerial duties (i.e. hiring, firing, performance appraisals, pay reviews)
  • Skilled in modeling company values through daily interactions within the department, particularly with regards to health and safety
  • Capable of supporting the work of the department
  • High standard of ethics, discipline, and professionalism
  • Skilled in fostering a positive workplace culture and building inclusive workplace teams


License/Certifications:



  • Registered with the State of Minnesota as a Respiratory Therapist through written examination or approved equivalent
