The UCD Infusion Pharmacies provides infusion medications for oncology and other patients who require infusion medications in an ambulatory setting. The Infusion Pharmacist is a vital part of the healthcare team, specializing in preparing and dispensing intravenous (IV) medications to patients receiving infusion therapy. This role involves clinical, operational, and administrative responsibilities to ensure the safe and effective delivery of infusion medications, compliance with regulatory standards, and a high level of patient care.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position.

• California Pharmacist License eligible and possess a valid license at the time of hire
• Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent training
• Pharmacist experience in a hospital, infusion pharmacy, or similar clinical setting
• Computerized provider order entry (CPOE) experience
• Knowledge of USP <797> and USP <800> regulations
• Thorough understanding and competency with aseptic technique and safe handling of hazardous meds
• Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with other staff and patients.
• Working knowledge of non-oncology infusion drugs
• Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills, communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Board Certification in Sterile Compounding (BCSCP) or Oncology (BCOP) Pharmacy
• Post Graduate Year One (PGY1) Acute Care or Ambulatory Care Residency
• Post Graduate Year Two (PGY2) Oncology or Heath-System System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) Residency
• Recent (within 2 years) experience with sterile compounding, handling hazardous drugs, USP 797/800
• EPIC/BEACON experience
• Working knowledge of oncology drugs and IV additive preparation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Skills in documentation and record keeping
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and protocols
• Knowledge of FDA, DEA, USP, and Joint Commission regulations for IV preparation and administration
• Ability to lead technicians and establish priorities of workflow in an infusion Pharmacy.

Department Specific Job Scope

The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.

Work Environment
