Supervisor Pharmacy Ambulatory

The Supervisor for the Clinical Ambulatory Pharmacy team will provide team members with direct operational and clinical oversight. This position will assist with developing and maintaining standards in documentation, metrics, onboarding, training, auditing, and performance. It will be important for this individual to know the work they are supporting; therefore, a portion of their week may be spent supporting clinically in an area of need on the team. This will ensure the team can relate to and trust this individual when initiatives are rolled out.

This registered pharmacist maintains accountability for the supervision and operation of a specific area of expertise. Coordinates process improvement activities, resolves human resource issues, and assists with program development in area of accountability. Works with multiple medication automation systems.

Essential Functions
  • Provides appropriate supervision and direction to pharmacists, technicians, residents, interns, and other support personnel.

  • Responsible for human resource issues involving supervised staff; to include but not limited to, hiring, evaluations, corrective action, and updating job descriptions.

  • Develops and maintains standards for area of accountability and communicates those standards to the staff.

  • Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Completes required continuous training and education, including department and Corewell Health specific requirements on a timely basis.

  • Provides education and counseling to patients / family / significant others / members of the health care team in order to optimize outcomes and appropriate use of medications.

  • Participates in process improvement activities. Continuously monitors quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency in area of accountability and identifies trends. Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation / compliance requirements.

  • Works in, and can train around, Epic, and other applicable third-party platforms.

  • Supports and coordinates onboarding for their direct team members.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy
  • 1+ year of related informal leadership experience
  • MI Clinical Pharmacist Required within 90 Days
  • MI Pharmacist Controlled Substance Required within 90 days
  • AHA Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Adv Life support (PALS) Required within 180 days
