Job Description

Position Title: Customer Service Assistant - Library

In this role, you'll be the welcoming face (and voice!) that helps patrons with their passport appointments, payments, and questions-whether in person or over the phone. You'll work closely with our amazing staff to keep everything running smoothly and ensure every visitor leaves with a smile. If you're organized, upbeat, and excited about helping people start their next adventure, we'd love to meet you!

Key Responsibilities:



  • Cheerfully answers phone calls and provides helpful information about the library's passport program.
  • Schedules passport appointments quickly and efficiently upon request.
  • Accepts new passport applications, carefully reviewing all documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Enters basic customer information and service updates into our system to keep things organized and on track.
  • Collects and processes in-person payments for passport services, making sure everything is accurate and ready for mailing.
  • Assists with other administrative tasks as needed to help keep the program running smoothly.
  • Takes on additional related duties as assigned-teamwork makes the dream work!

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:



  • High school diploma or equivalent.


Experience:



  • Previous experience required in the same or similar positions


Licenses and Certifications:



  • Valid driver's license upon hire.
  • Must complete all required City training courses within six months of hire
  • Passport Acceptance Agent training and certification after hire.


Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:



  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment in accordance with city policies and procedures for patrons, co-workers and self.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but is not required.
