Job Title: Quality Engineer, First Article Inspection(FAI) Planner (Air Structures)

Location: West Lafayette, IN

Job Description:

  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System principles and processes;

  • Responsible for full-cycle FAI process and mediates root cause corrective actions;

  • Develop and maintain an FAI Schedule (new and delta) that optimizes opportunities to perform air structure inspections while minimizing disruption to production through detailed coordination with Production Management, Planning, and Quality departments;

  • Responsible for FAI plan execution ensuring all required inspections have been performed prior to air structure shipment;

  • Responsible for FAI documentation, adhere to customer documentation requirements and record retention;

  • Act as customer interface for FAI related tasks;

  • Work with FAI Coordinators and Inspectors;

  • Develop Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for FAI process, monitor performance and develop actions as required to improve process;

  • Facilitate FAI review team meetings on a regular cadence;

  • Review FAI recordings of non-conformance reports (NCR) identified during manufacturing and inspection and track all issues;

  • Ensure change requests are generated when necessary and track to closure;

  • Ensure that root-cause corrective actions are developed, registered, implemented and validated.;

  • Work with Quality Management Systems, testing and inspection methodologies;

  • Work with customer specific requirements, applicable for FAI;

  • Work with AS9102 and internal requirements applicable for FAI;

  • Administer FAI as a part of the overall Quality Management System;

  • Utilize FAI in aeronautics;

  • Administer applicable manufacturing processes and inspection methods; and

  • Work with FAI Coordinators in job duties and in quality principles and systems.

Compensation Range: $70,200-$87,800

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

1 year of college education or foreign equivalent in General Studies or related

1 year of previous experience as quality engineer

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
