This position will work 11-hour shifts with occasional weekends.

DESCRIPTION

Working under general supervision, the Mammography Tech performs screening and diagnostic breast imaging procedures, as well as interventional breast imaging procedures. Responsible for operational effectiveness in Breast Imaging area with attention to patient flow, customer service, equipment oversight, and quality control guidelines. Collaborates with the radiologists regarding clinical imaging and associated protocols. Maintains continuing education specific to Breast Imaging.

Demonstrates and applies knowledge of principles of radiation safety. Works closely with the Radiation Physicist to ensure the equipment meets all radiation standards set forth by law. Demonstrates skills and knowledge via competency exams in all Breast Imaging procedures. Must follow Radiology Imaging protocols and policies. Possesses good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Interacts with service representatives and vendors to ensure timely maintenance is performed and contacts appropriate persons when equipment needs to be serviced. Must be able to work flexible hours, including some overtime if necessary for unexpected staffing issues and at both UCSD campuses as needed. Demonstrates knowledge of computers, such as Picture Archival Computer System (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS) and Mammography Reporting System. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate of a school of radiologic technology.

  • California Radiology Technologist of Mammography (CRT-M).

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Recent experience in a similar role and setting or new graduate of an approved radiologic technology program.

  • Strong knowledge of radiological computerized systems and applications, such as Picture Archival Computer Systems (PACS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and Mammography Reporting Systems.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records, Mammography Reporting System and electronic communication.

  • Possess the skills, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Registered Technologist for Mammography issued by ARRT (R.T(M)(ARRT)).
  • One (1) year of experience as a Mammography Technologist.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts.
  • Position may float between Rancho Bernardo and La Jolla Clinics.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $108,785 - $135,282 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $52.10 - $64.79

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
