As a GIS Technician, you will play a crucial role in collecting, compiling, and managing geographic data from various sources, including maps, surveys, and satellite images. Your responsibilities will include digitizing and entering geographic data into GIS databases, creating and updating GIS maps and layers using GIS software, and performing quality control checks to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
You will analyze geographic data to identify patterns, trends, and relationships, and assist in the development and implementation of GIS projects and initiatives. Providing technical support and training to GIS users, maintaining GIS databases and archives, and staying updated on advancements in GIS technology and best practices will also be key aspects of your role. Collaboration with other departments to integrate GIS data and functionality into business processes is essential. *Qualifications:* * A bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, or a related field is preferred, although some positions may accept a certificate or associate's degree. * Strong technical skills, including proficiency in GIS software and databases. * Attention to detail and the ability to work independently. * Good communication and teamwork skills, as collaboration with other professionals is often required to achieve project goals. *Skills:* * *Proficiency in ArcGIS, GIS, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and G/Tec.* Top Skills: * ArcGIS * GIS * MicroStation * AutoCAD * G/Tec Additional Skills & Qualifications: * 5+ years of overall experience in GIS, G/Tech, and CAD. * Experience with CAD/GIS in a utility environment. l *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
