Job Description

Position Summary:

As an Operations Intern, you will be pivotal in implementing daily operating procedures to achieve key performance objectives in production, safety, quality, throughput, productivity, delinquencies, first-pass yield, and cost. This internship provides hands-on experience, with approximately 75% of your time spent on the production floor and 25% in an office environment. Learn the workflow of the manufacturing department to develop into a future operations leader. Candidate must be able to work full-time 40 hr/week or part-time 20hr/week for an equivalent of 480 hours total.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work strictly to functional safety guidelines, including the proper use of PPE and equipment interaction.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area daily, identifying and mitigating safety hazards.
  • Ensure strict compliance with manufacturing documentation, procedures, and protocols.
  • Monitor scrap, yield, and part efficiencies on existing programs to achieve budget targets.
  • Collaborate with teams to meet daily schedules throughput targets and ensure customer satisfaction. This includes reviewing metrics such as inventory, productivity, MRRs. And
  • Cooperation and support for trials with engineering and Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Contribute to safety projects and actions as needed.
  • Assist with cost reduction projects and actively enhance employee engagement and performance.
  • Support managerial supervisory tasks such as timekeeping, documentation control, training, scheduling, and processing work orders
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Strong mathematical, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and the ability to work independently.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in PC programs, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all organizational levels within cross-functional teams.
  • Basic understanding of total quality management systems and tools, such as systematic problem-solving, root cause analysis, process design, demand flow, bills of material structure, process plans, routings, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, blueprints, router instructions, and specifications.
  • Deadline-driven with a strong bias toward achieving results, flexibility with schedules, and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and related software.
  • Strong data analysis skills for trends and projections

Preferred Experience:

  • 1-2+ years of Leadership or Project Management experience preferred
  • 1-2+ years of Customer Service experience.
  • Experience in machining (Manual, Forging, etc.).
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus

Level of Education:

  • Currently pursuing a BS Degree in Engineering and/or Business Management - Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred. Junior and Senior Year candidates preferred. Must have completed at least their freshman year.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $21 to $21 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. Employees will receive 0 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
