The Department of Nursing at MSU Denver is dedicated to preparing compassionate, skilled, and culturally responsive nurses who are equipped to meet the complex healthcare needs of diverse communities. Position Summary

The Department of Nursing at MSU Denver invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position with a primary teaching focus in Community and Population Health Nursing. Additional teaching responsibilities in other areas may be assigned based on departmental needs.

The successful candidate will support the mission of the Department of Nursing by contributing to high-quality teaching, student engagement, and curriculum development. This role includes teaching 24 credit hours per academic year, which may include classroom, clinical, laboratory, hybrid, and online formats. Faculty are also expected to engage in scholarly activities and provide service to the department, university, and broader community.

MSU Denver has a robust mentoring program for tenure-track faculty. The candidate will be enrolled in the Roadrunner Faculty Academy during their first year. This is a year-long course designed to support new faculty to navigate faculty life and thrive in teaching, scholarly activity and service.

Responsibilities

1. Teach 24 credits of upper-division undergraduate nursing courses

  • Plan and deliver theoretical instruction and clinical experiences
  • Use a variety of instructional modalities, including in-person, online, and hybrid formats
  • Design, implement, and evaluate curriculum
  • Conduct student assessments and evaluate academic achievement
  • Participate in curriculum and policy development and evaluation
  • Orient, mentor, and monitor clinical faculty and preceptors

2. Provide academic advising and mentorship to students

  • Support student retention and success
  • Promote inclusivity and respond to the needs of a diverse student population

3. Participate in department, college, university, and community service

  • Serve on committees at the department, college, and university levels

4. Engage in scholarly activity and professional development per the tenure track process

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in nursing from a nationally accredited nursing education program
  • Active, unencumbered RN license to practice in Colorado or ability to obtain by hiring date
  • A minimum of two years full-time (or equivalent) clinical experience in professional nursing
  • Documented one year experience in the area of instruction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in nursing or a related field
  • Experience teaching at the college or university level
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse urban student population
  • Recent practice in community and population health nursing

Salary for Announcement

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 at Assistant Professor rank. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.
