General Information:

Parking and Transit Services is seeking a Parking Cadet Program Lead to supervise a staff of approximately 20 student employees, fostering a positive, team-oriented work environment to meet the department's goals of high quality customer service and maintaining the campus parking system. The position will also involve regular enforcement of JMU's campus parking regulations through foot and vehicular patrol, including during evening hours, and assistance supervising parking for campus special events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Parking Cadet Program Lead will be responsible for the direct supervision of Parking and Transit Services' student employees (cadets). Duties will include: participating in the interviewing, hiring and training process for new cadets; providing office and field supervision; conducting and composing performance reviews; performing disciplinary actions and terminations as necessary. The position will also be responsible for enforcement of the JMU parking regulations by patrolling campus and issuing citations to illegally parked vehicles. Enforcement will be performed during daytime and evening hours, both on foot and through the use of a License Plate Recognition vehicle. Office duties will include maintaining records and equipment, communicating with student employees and other JMU departments as necessary, and ensuring data accuracy. Additional duties will include assistance with the preparation for and execution of parking operations for campus special events and occasional light maintenance on campus parking facilities.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
- Customer service experience
- Proven ability to work independently
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Intermediate computing skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office

Additional Considerations:
- Experience in parking enforcement or other law enforcement agencies
- Experience with supervision of undergraduate students

Additional Posting Information:

Hours for this position are Monday - Thursday, 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM. Occasional work outside of these hours may be necessary to facilitate major campus events. This is primarily an outdoor position that will occasionally require working in adverse weather conditions.
