Job Summary:

The Tax Director, Digital Transformation & Innovation - Project Management (Director) is a key leader within the BDO Tax Digital Transformation and Innovation team, overseeing the Tax DT&I portfolio of products and projects. In this role, the Director coordinates with business stakeholders, the DT&I product management team, software developers and DT&I deployment teams to create and implement portfolios, programs, projects, and plans to assist and guide technology solutions to meet the needs of our clients and professionals.

Job Duties:



  • Strategically oversees the planning and implementation of multiple technology development projects within the Tax Digital Transformation and Innovation portfolio, ensuring alignment with BDO's long-term vision and goals
  • Collaborates closely with senior leadership, including Product Owners, Deployment Leads, and other key stakeholders, to ensure that project objectives are met and that they contribute to BDO's strategic priorities
  • Implements advanced project management methodologies, combining elements of waterfall, agile, and other innovative approaches to optimize project timelines, scope, and resource allocation across the portfolio
  • Monitors and manages project financials at a portfolio level, ensuring that budget projections and actual expenditures are aligned, and making strategic adjustments as necessary
  • Leverages sophisticated project management tools and software to track progress, manage resources, and provide comprehensive status updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability
  • Facilitates high-level communication and collaboration among project teams and stakeholders, fostering a culture of clear understanding and alignment with project objectives, timelines, and deliverables
  • Identifies and mitigates project risks and issues at a portfolio level, developing and implementing robust strategies to minimize their impact on overall project success
  • Ensures meticulous documentation is maintained and updated throughout the project lifecycle, providing a comprehensive record for future reference and continuous improvement
  • Conducts thorough post-project evaluations to capture key learnings and insights, driving improvements in project management practices and enhancing future project outcomes
  • Manages large-scale, complex projects and programs within the portfolio, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while maintaining a focus on strategic objectives
  • Leads regular project status meetings and reviews, providing detailed updates and reports to stakeholders, and ensuring that any issues are addressed promptly and effectively
  • Facilitates effective communication among all stakeholders, including clients, team members, and Tax leadership, ensuring that everyone is aligned and informed throughout the project lifecycle
  • Other duties as required


Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Mentors and coaches junior project managers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
  • Acts as a Career Advisor as assigned


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:



  • Bachelor's Degree, required; focus in Business, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Information Technology, preferred


Experience:



  • Ten (10) or more years of experience with project management, mentoring teams, and software development lifecycle, required
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience serving as a project manager, project coordinator, or similar role, with a focus on technology development projects, preferred
  • Experience working in the tax or accounting professional services industry tax, preferred
  • Experience working with multinational teams, preferred


License/Certifications:



  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified, preferred
  • Scrum Master or Agile Certified Practitioner, preferred


Software:



  • Proficient with project management tools, required

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
National Range: $225,000 - $285,000
Maryland Range: $225,000 - $285,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $225,000 - $285,000
