Your Job

We are looking for a full-time Assistant Engineer to develop manufacturing stations for automating optical alignment, hardware assembly, optics module testing, and data processing. The candidate should be skilled in station assembly (soldering, wiring, machinery parts), automation processes, programming with Python, and robotic station calibration.

What You Will Do

  • Perform automation station set up that involves soldering, crimping, wiring harness fabrication, and assembling machinery parts with hand tools and power tools
  • Under lead engineers' direction, develop and fine tune automation processes, including high-precision alignment between optical fibers, lenses, photonic integrated circuits (PIC), and MEMS mirrors, by modifying or generating Python code
  • Conduct experiments to validate station design and collaborate with lead engineers to develop and document station installation, calibration and bring up procedures.
  • Set up and maintain lab stations and equipment, ensuring proper alignment, organization, and availability of resources for prototyping.
  • Collaborate with NPI or equipment team in global factories, develop and document equipment troubleshooting and preventative procedures for automatic stations.
  • Manage materials and BOM (Bill of Materials) inventory for automation developments, tracking parts and components for station availability and efficiency.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Technical or associate degree in Engineering, Physics, or equivalents in a related field.
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience with system and test fixture setup, including soldering, crimping, and wiring harness fabrication.
  • Familiarity with optical alignment techniques and equipment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical hardware for troubleshooting and debugging complex systems.
  • Basic coding skills with Python or LabView.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office for data collection, analysis, and documentation.
  • Dedicated, detail-oriented, and adaptable, with a strong ability to collaborate in a team environment.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • Experience in the Silicon Photonics optical electrical industry is highly desirable.
  • Previous roles in lab management, hardware engineering, or similar positions.
  • Basic programming skills with MATLAB or Python for data analysis.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin is a plus.

For this role, we anticipate paying $60,000 - $80,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
