The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking an impactful and growth-focused Director of Finance and Treasurer to provide strategic vision and leadership for the enterprise as a proactive business partner and advisor to the Chief Financial Officer, ULT and broader executive team (CXO). The Director of Finance and Treasurer will be responsible for providing strategic financial insights and guidance to support the company's growth and profitability. This role will involve overseeing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis activities, as well as partnering with senior leadership to drive business performance and strategic decision-making. Additionally, this role will act as the Corporate Treasurer and oversee the Treasury function (ESOP, 401k, Debt Management, Cash Management and Forecasting and Payroll).

The Director of Finance and Treasurer will serve as a key member of the CFO leadership team driving transformation of the business to achieve the next stage of growth and complexity. Through, his/her team, the Director of Finance and Treasurer will help instill a culture of financial awareness and data-driven decision making throughout the organization.

This position will require regular, but limited, travel to various offices. The position can be based in Twin Cities, Fargo or Denver.

What You'll Do

Finance



  • Oversee the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting activities, ensuring alignment with company strategy and objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior executives to develop and monitor departmental budgets and financial plans.
  • Conduct scenario analysis, modelling business scenarios and developing enterprise contingency plans to navigate changes in market conditions.
  • Act as a trusted financial advisor to senior leadership, providing data-driven insights and recommendations for decision support.


  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior management and the Board of Directors with responsibilities to present to the Board of Directors, as needed.


  • Develop and maintain key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor business performance.
  • Lead benchmarking analysis and provide actionable insights to senior management based on findings.
  • Support strategic initiatives and projects (e.g. annual ESOP valuation, M&A projects) by providing financial analysis and modeling.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of financial operations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and in collaboration with the Controller improve the financial closing process.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to financial reporting and analysis across the organization.
  • Advance analytical maturity across the finance team and leverage technology to improve finance processes.
  • Build, manage, and mentor a team of finance professionals (manager + analysts), providing guidance and fostering professional development.
  • Promote a collaborative, high-performance culture within the finance team and across the organization.


Treasury



  • Ensure fiduciary responsibilities are carried out related to ESOP, 401(k) and investment policies.
  • Develop strategies for alternative capital structures and oversee any structural changes in response to long-term capital needs for strategic investments.
  • Oversee Ulteig's banking and Trustee relationships to ensure appropriate levels of working capital are available for the organization.
  • Develop and maintain a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism to assess thresholds to meet operating and longer-term strategic needs.
  • Oversee cash management and investments aligned with the company's short- term and long-term objectives.
  • Oversee payroll.



What We Expect from You



  • The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset with the ability to guide teams through organizational growth and change.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in finance within increasing responsibilities in Corporate Finance, Business Unit Finance, Treasury or other financial analysis roles.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, including advanced PowerPoint skills, and the confidence to present to the Ulteig Leadership Team and the Board of Directors.
  • Outstanding business partnering experience, gaining trust with Ulteig leaders by demonstrating a broad view of the operating environment, being strategically minded and ability to exercise sound judgment to lead others through change.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as Excel, ERP systems, financial planning software, and Power BI.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

          Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $181,200- $245,200
