This position reports to

Operations Development Manager, Ports Se

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to ensure the Service portfolio is delivered effectively according to ABB standard processes and safety guidelines to satisfy customers. Each day, you will execute technical support, act as a specialist, and solve problems in your own area of expertise. You will also showcase your expertise by communicating both with the customer and ABB sales teams proactively to ensure customer needs are understood and business opportunities utilized for service growth. The Ports Technical Support Engineer (SE) plans and executes, with minimal professional guidance, complex technical field assignments involving the installation, modification, test, inspection or repair of company products and equipment. The SE may also coordinate work with other groups to ensure meeting customer commitments. Since the SE is often the one who interacts with the customer's operations people, they may also recommend measures to improve operations and customer service.
The work model for the role is remote. #LI-Remote
This role is contributing to the Process Automation, Marine and Ports Division.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Providing technical support and solving problems in own expertise area via remote or on-site service in any Service category.
Determining effective Service applications, equipment, and methods to develop, market, or manufacture new Service offerings to respond to customer requirements cost-effectively.
Providing technical consulting on Service solutions to management and customers.
Identifying new sales opportunities, proactively communicating both with the customer and ABB sales teams to ensure customer needs are understood and business opportunities utilized for service growth.

Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or other technical field is preferred but not required.
  • 5 or more years of experience in drives and PLC/process control systems.
  • Familiarity with Motors and MV power distribution.
  • Familiarity with port/container crane work environment and procedures is also preferred.

While the base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $75,800 and $140,800 annually.
