We are looking for a creative thinker and problem solver whose enthusiasm, experience, and keen business acumen will put the City's bold plans into action and build community. Knowledge & Education Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in recreation, business or public administration, or a related field. Knowledge of administrative principles and practices, including goal setting, program development, implementation, and evaluation, and project management. Skills & Abilities Plan, develop, organize, oversee, and manage a comprehensive and dynamic community recreation program. Think creatively, be flexible, and have a willingness to solve problems in new and different ways. Develop and implement goals, objectives, practices, policies, procedures, operation plans, and workplans. Build recreation programs from the ground up and evaluate existing programs for improvements or cancellation; find a good balance between programmed experiences drop-in use opportunities. Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of innovative recreational programs, including, but not limited to, sports, fitness, aquatics, arts, adaptive, seniors, and special events, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the community. Plan, manage, and oversee the daily operations of the Recreation Division. Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the division; recommend appropriate service and staffing levels; recommend and administers policies and procedures. Experience & Licenses Six (6) years of increasingly responsible recreation programming experience including three (3) years of supervisory experience. Possession of, or successful acquisition within 12 months of employment, a valid CPR, AED, and first aid certification issued by the American Red Cross, to be maintained throughout employment. THE ORGANIZATION The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policy making and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year. The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager's Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works, and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and an Assistant City Manager.
