Position Summary:



The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Stern College for Women of Yeshiva University, a 4-year liberal arts women's college located in midtown Manhattan, New York City, invites applications for a visiting assistant professor, starting August 2025.

An individual is sought to teach undergraduate courses and laboratories in general and organic chemistry as well as chemistry for non-majors. The teaching load as a visiting assistant professor is 9 contact hours per semester. The position is approved for at least one academic year.

A research program is not a requirement for this position, but it is highly encouraged; our facilities are available for interested, successful applicants.



Position Responsibilities:




  • The incumbent will teach and coordinate general and organic chemistry labs, and a chemistry for non-majors course.



Experience & Educational Background:




  • A Ph.D. in chemistry and postdoctoral experience are required.
  • Teaching experience in general/organic chemistry is necessary.



Skills & Competencies:




  • The successful applicant should have teaching experience and should be passionate about teaching laboratories, have a strong background in experiments with NMR, IR, Mass spectroscopy and UV-Visible spectrometer.
  • Excellent communication skills are required, both verbal and written.
